No shoes?

"Bobby Martin, 17 years old, is a noseguard and special teams member for Colonel White High School in Dayton, Ohio.  He also happens to be three feet tall, having been born with no legs.  He was recently removed from a game during halftime because he wasn't wearing shoes, thighpads, or kneepads.  Fortunately, wiser heads prevailed shortly thereafter. "

Wow.

Lady Iranian racecar driver kicks ass

Xeni Jardin: Snipped from the New York Times:

Laleh Seddigh stepped on the gas, cut off a truck and blasted her Peugeot between two other cars. "I prefer to drive by myself," she said, seeing her passenger steadying himself with a hand on the dash. "In case something happens - it's a very big responsibility."
With that, she broke around a blue pickup, accelerated past an Oldsmobile and swerved onto an offramp, past a billboard of Ayatollah Khomeini and a 30 kilometer an hour speed-limit sign, doing 80 k.p.h., or just under 50 miles an hour. Ms. Seddigh loves speed. She also loves a challenge. Last fall, she petitioned the national auto racing federation in this male-dominated society for permission to compete against men. When it was granted, she became not only the first woman in Iran to race cars against the opposite sex, but also the first woman since the Islamic Revolution here to compete against men in any sport. What's more, she beat them.

"I like competition in everything," the striking 28-year-old said after parking the car and going for tiramisù in a cafe in North Tehran. "I have to move whatever is movable in the world."

The biggest moving mountain ever surfed

"HOLY crap, Pete ... that was a bomb!" Those were the exact words used by surfer Pete Cabrinha's jet ski tow-in driver, Rush Randle, after the revered Hawaiian waterman rode a 70 foot (21.5m) giant.

Randle was right, almost. It was more than a bomb. It was big enough to get Cabrinha into the Guinness Book of Records for the largest wave ever ridden. Cabrinha's fearless effort at the infamous big wave reef called Jaws in Hawaii on January 10 was given official status at the Billabong XXL Global Big Wave Awards in California yesterday.

Candace Parker

Unreal. Candace Parker, the two-time Naismith Player of the Year, won the dunk contest at the McDonald’s All American Boys and Girls Games.

The catch? This wasn’t the girls’ competition. She beat the guys.

Last year’s winner? A guy you might have heard of: Lebron James.

Candace ... is headed to Tennessee next year. She first dunked in a game as a sophomore.

Razer Viper Gaming Mouse Review

JOEL JOHNSON -- Heir to the infamous Boomslang super-mouse comes Razer's newest creation, the Viper Gaming Mouse, essentially an updated optical version of its predecessor. ExtremeMHz tries out a Viper and comes away big fans (Extreme Excellence Award, dude!) but, really, this sort of thing is so subjective you'll have... [Gizmodo]
